Local History You Can Trust
Chatham Damaré Pittman PLLC has a foundation dating back to 1932 when Gerald Weissinger Chatham opened his law office in Hernando. The law firm has been at the same location since 1952, going through several expansions and remodels. The elder Mr. Chatham was District Attorney from 1941- 1955 and was the Prosecutor in the infamous Emmitt Till Trial in 1955. Mr. Chatham's son, Gerald Wilborn Chatham, Sr. carried on the tradition of excellence and advocacy first established by his father. Gerald Wilborn Chatham, Sr. also served as District Attorney for 12 years and then practiced here at this firm until his election in 2010 as Circuit Court Judge of the 17th Judicial District in Northern Mississippi. Prior to his election as Circuit Judge, Mr. Chatham was listed in Best Lawyers in America and as a Preeminent Lawyer in Martindale-Hubble.
The current lawyers of Chatham Damaré Pittman carry on this fine tradition. Attorney Mary Lynn Damaré is a reserve Lieutenant Colonel and JAG (Judge Advocate) in the US Air Force. Attorney Steven W. Pittman began his practice with a prominent Personal Injury and Criminal Defense Firm in Memphis, TN prior to joining Chatham Damaré Pittman. He has maintained his dual Mississippi/Tennessee law license since 1995. Both Mrs. Damaré and Mr. Pittman have top peer review ratings. We are also proud that our members are licensed to practice in all State and Federal Courts in Mississippi and Tennessee, as well as Military Courts. Charles "Nick" Smith, a life-long resident of Tate County, Mississippi, joined the practice as an associate in 2010 and successfully passed both the Mississippi and Tennessee Bar Exams in the same year. We are happy to have him as an inspiring and bright young attorney.
